PERSONALITY
SUPERBIA might sometimes operate on logic beyond that of inferior organic minds, but its judgement is never wrong.
WHAT MAKES SUPERBIA THINK YOUR CHARACTER IS PRIVATEER MATERIAL? (Powerful martial abilities? Sheer ambitious vision? An ability to make a mean egg salad sandwich?)
Hermes does have a number of useful abilities, such as being able to rip holes in space, his extreme speed, and (even though people think he's dumb), his observational skills. It may not look like he's paying attention, but he actually is. If he becomes a player's "patron", he'll often help out by informing where stores, on which planets, and how many. One would have to be a very keen investigator in order to figure that out. In addition, Hermes can be very good at explaining things. He's had tons of practice giving out tutorials over his existence. And while he may not know everything, he can be very good at explaining what he does know. Another thing Hermes is capable is feats of impressive strength. In his computer game, it's a quantifiable 10 out of 10, and can thus be able to lift heavy things easily.
Fortuna is always described as being capable of granting any wish, but its exact nature is unknown.
DEEP DOWN, WHAT DOES YOUR CHARACTER WANT IT TO BE THE MOST? (examples: an impossibly powerful weapon, a beautiful natural wonder, a cool giant robot.)
Hermes does actually have multiple reasons to go after Fortuna, but his main more reason why he might want to get it is to get one of his friends, a first-generation Roman Apollo, back alive without any negative or unwanted traits. Hermes had permanently killed him while trying to free him from the player's cursor. There's no way to bring him back ingame, not unless the unwanted
[Abomination]
is gained. If there's a way to bring the earlier version of Roman!Apollo without the abomination trait, he'd do it, as he has shown very strong signs of wanting Apollo back. A different Roman!Apollo had gotten accused of killing the Greek!Apollo, and thus, thrown into the tutorial for hundreds of ingame years. The Roman!Apollo was just about to be killed, so Hermes saved them by using
[Space Ripper]
to allow Apollo to escape to the Underworld. Later on, during the player's furst real game, Hermes intentionally fostered a friendship with a third-generation Apollo Unit.
SUPERBIA only desires to prove the existence of the Lucky Star; its privateers are free to do whatever they want with it.
IF YOUR CHARACTER GOT THE TREASURE, WHAT WOULD YOUR CHARACTER DO WITH IT? WHY DO THEY WANT TO FIND IT?
As stated before, Hermes would use it to try and get his friend back up and running the way before he was killed. Once he got it, he'd try and protect it from others. He also might actually get a little paranoid over protecting it and try to manipulate people away from it. He might also be willing to try and kill to protect it. He's seen himself getting hurt again and again trying to do good things for himself, such as accidentally killing his friend while trying to protect him and accidentally getting infected with an infectious virus that would turn him into a
clockwork
while trying to stop others from killing him (in his paranoid eyes), but he does realize that this might be something bogger, more worth the risk. Maybe.
Treasure-hunting is not for the weak of heart.
WHAT IS YOUR CHARACTER WILLING TO RISK, AND WHAT ARE THEY WILLING TO SACRIFICE?
Hermes has had hundreds of thousands of ingame years experiencing the dangers of space travel. He's already endured hardships multiple times and lived to tell the tale. He's stood by watching people die and put himself into (minor) danger aiding other people. In the computer game Fortuna, space was depicted as an incredibly dangerous place where anyone can die, but not if you're lucky or smart about it. Furthermore, he's actually seen his fair share of combat. While not the best fighter, or even a fighter at all, he has participated in what he and Thanatos v1 call "Murder Hour". He prefers only watching people die, but Murder Hour is an exception.
POWERS AND ABILITIES
Death Sight - Hermes can see the exact time people can die, depicted as a timer directly above a person's head, counting down to 0. This ability can be switched on and off at will.
Game Inventory - Hermes can put stuff in a pocket-dimension/hammerspace, but he has to be careful not to overflow it as it will break. Currently has 12 slots.
Godhead - Hermes can grant a member of Hermes's Consort Species the ability to become a Godhead, which gives them an overall enhancement. Will only become applicable if any of these species appear: Aftik, Delphik, Kounini, Spiraji, Tourist
Observational abilities - Hermes pays very close attention to his surroundings. Kind of necessary when zipping around so fast, the person looks like a blur.
Quicksaving - Whatever Hermes touches, quicksaves the game of Fortuna. This ability cannot be turned off. Unfortunately, this ability will be useless within this setting.
[Space Ripper]
- He can rip holes in space, creating a technical wormhole, and repair the rips in space as if they were never even there. Ingame, he could use this to travel to and from the Underworld, but I assume the Underworld doesn't exist in this setting, so he can't travel there.
Strength and Speed - He is both very fast and very strong. He's the fastest AI in the game.
